The cost of merging TPS into the Canal+ Group is put at €38 million, according to data released by Canal’s parent company Vivendi. Excluding the cost of the merger, Canal+ reported an EBITA of €340 million compared to €190 million in the year ending June 30, 2006.
Canal+ France is now beginning to reap the benefits of the merger with its former DTH rival through higher revenues, and a fall in distribution and programming costs. Subscription revenue accounted for €783 million compared to €736m in 2006. The Group made an overall profit of €23 million, an increase of €1m.
EBITA covering the Canal+ Group’s other operations remain stable, lower earnings from StudioCanal being compensated by stronger performances from Canal+ Poland and news channel i>télé.
