Unitymedia, the cable operator in Hesse and Nordrhine-Westfalia, has said it has reached 550,000 digital TV homes, a fivefold increase since 2006. The company also has 200,00 broadband customers and 120,000 VoiP homes. Of the new broadband customers 80% take the full triple play subscription, which starts at €30 monthly for basic digital TV, 6 Mbps Internet access and unlimited national fixed network calls.
Before the end of the year Unitymedia will be able to offer broadband access and telephony services to 66% of its footprint. Both products are available on a standalone basis without the need for basic cable subscription. “To make our offer also attractive to DTT and DTH viewers,” according to a company spokesperson. The cable operator claims it has 100% digital TV coverage within its footprint in the two states.
