Simply Media today announced its expansion into sport through the acquisition of a majority stake in GolfBug.tv parent, BrandLive. The acquisition sees GolfBug.tv relaunched as a brand new site anon-demand service, offering exclusive webTV coverage of The European Tour and footage from the Royal & Ancient archive, as well as a new design and layout.
Simply will work with GolfBug founder Andrew Cooke to launch a number of specialist sports channels under the Simply Sports umbrella. Andrew was previously Senior Vice President at Octagon Marketing UK and has over 20 years experience in the sports marketing, major brand sponsorship and televised events industry.
Simply is a privider in the emerging Internet TV space and has a track record of creating targeted channels which work with viewers and advertisers alike. It recently launched a number of female interest lifestyle channels under the Simply.tv brand with the most popular content shown on sister channels on Sky and in 400 hairdressing salons. This partnership will mark the first in a succession for Simply as it expands into new areas, broadening its audience in response to advertiser demand.
