Confusion surrounds reports about a possible change of ownership at the leading Ukrainian commercial station Inter TV. Earlier this week the Russian press that two entrepreneurs – Dmitry Firtash and Vitaly Haiduk – had acquired a 61% stake in Inter TV from Alexander Abramov. Abramov is the principal owner of Evraz Steel, which is understood to be the major shareholder in Inter TV. However, Inter TV has since denied the reports and threatened to take legal action. It added that the actual owners of the station are the Ukrainian Media Project (61%), Russia’s Channel One (29%) and Pegasus (10%).
