Video website YouTube has launched local sites in Brazil, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK offering localised versions in various languages.
Each site is fully translated and localized for each country including content (featured videos, director videos, promotions), as well as interfaces, search, user support and community features like video ratings, sharing, and content flagging.
The new sites are built using Google search technology, and users can shift seamlessly between youtube.com and each of the localised sites.
YouTube has already signed international content partners including the BBC, EuroNews, France 24, Antena 3 and Cuatro TV, RTP, VPRO and NPO (Dutch public broadcasters) and football clubs such as Chelsea FC, AC Milan, Barcelona FC and Real Madrid.
YouTube has also launched a special mobile site, which allows watching the clips on mobile phones.
