The CSA has said it will advertise for applicants for a mobile TV service in October this year. It follows the consultation by the French regulator over the provision of ‘télévision mobile personnelle (TMP)’ services in the UHF band, sitting alongside the existing digital terrestrial channels, serving the principal cities and covering around 30% of the population. Capacity has also been set aside for HD services.
The responses, available on the CSA website, differ strongly on whether the network should be free or pay, and the relationship between the network operators and the content providers.
The CSA has said it will run a supplementary consultation to cover the technical and operational issues.
