Telenor demoes HD in Bulgaria

Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSB) is currently undertaking the first-ever live HD broadcast in Bulgaria. It is being demonstrated at the Mediamixx show in Albena on the Black Sea coast, offering attendees the chance to view Discovery HD on a Samsung full HD 48-inch screen. The signal is encoded in MPEG-4 and transferred to Sofia from Nittedal, Norway via Telenor’s MSNW network before being uplinked to Thor III from the Bulgarian capital. Discovery Channel has granted TSB rights to Discovery HD for a couple of weeks, with the signal due to be discontinued after Mediamixx.
