Sky Sports has confirmed plans to cover additional events in the HD format during 2007. Included are coverage of the US Open and USPGA Championship, as the broadcaster attempts to bolster its golf coverage following the loss of some PGA events to rival Setanta. The US Open from Oakmont (June 14 – 17) and USPGA Championship from Southern Hills (August 9-12) will both be covered on the Sky Sports network following last year’s coverage of The Ryder Cup from The K Club.
There are also plans for HD coverage of The Royal International Horse Show from Hickstead (July 25-29) and Poker Million VI (September 11 – December 21) will also be shown in HD. It will be the first time that an equestrian event and a poker tournament have been screened in the HD format.
Sky Sports is continuing to screen domestic and international football, cricket and rugby union in HD.
