BigBand has announced the deployment of its Cuda CMTS on the Liwest network in the Austrian city of Linz. In the initial development phase, Liwest is installing Cuda as an integrated CMTS, though it plans to migrate to a modular CMTS system that has been under test since last September.
“We decided to deploy Cuda because it gives us the flexibility to deploy cable modem and voice-over-IP services quickly and economically, with a migration path to advanced services, such as IPTV over DOCSIS, via M-CMTS,” said Hubert Riedl, officer and head of telecom service of Liwest. With 107,000 connected households, Liwest is Austria’s second largest cable operator.
The BigBand M-CMTS solution was demonstrated at the recent ANGA Cable event in Cologne.
