DigiTurk has placed a major order with Tandberg Television as the DTH platform prepares to launch high definition and on demand services.
Tandberg’s local business partner Broadcast Muhendislik is deploying statistical multiplex encoders. The Tandberg EN8090 MPEG-4 AVC encoders will be used for the delivery of high definition signals, while E5770 and E5775 MPEG-2 encoders will support standard definition MPEG-2 distribution. The new MX8400 will provide IP Multiplexing and the Xport on demand content production system will support the video-on-demand services.
DigiTurk launched in 1999 and offers subscribers a package of 160 channels including coverage of the Turkish football league.
Last year Digiturk announced the first round of upgrades to support the new services, with HD PVRs to be supplied by Pace, middleware by OpenTV, conditional access by Irdeto, and Harris Broadcast integrating the digital production and play-out set-up.
