First quarter subscriber growth at Canal+ has seen a net increase of 119,000 as the French pay-TV channel reported its best March performance since 1986. DTH package CanalSat reaped the benefits of the merger with former rival TPS and itself produced the best March since its launch in 1996.
When combined with TPS, the enlarged Canal+ Group accounted for 10.3 million subscribers.
As of March 31, 2007 the Canal+ Group had 5.2 million subscribers. Canal+ Le Bouquet accounted for 64% of the portfolio, compared to 54% a year ago.
Consolidated revenues came to €427.4 million, up €24.1 million or 6% from the €403.3 million reported in Q1 2006.
