As of 2008 ANGA Cable, the international trade fair for cable, satellite and multimedia will change its name to “ANGA Cable – Trade Fair for Cable, Broadband and Satellite”. Thomas Braun, president of ANGA said: “This change in name reflects the increasing relevance of broadband services such as high speed internet, IP-Telephony and IPTV. Due to cable networks upgrading with optical fibre the terms cable and broadband are inseparable from each other today.”
The trade fair and conference will take place May 22-24 in Cologne. The full conference is now available online at www.angacable.de.
Highlights of the programme include: during a “Strategy Summit”; the heads of network operators Kabel Deutschland (Christof Wahl), Orion Cable (Paul Stodden), SES Astra (Ferdinand Kayser) and UnityMedia (Parm Sandhu) will discuss prevailing concepts for digital television with broadcaster representatives Jürgen Doetz (VPRT), Prof. Dr. Carl-Eugen Eberle (ZDF) and Dr. Georg Kofler (Premiere). The panel is rounded off by Dr. Hans Hege representing the State Media Authorities, Frank Thomsen, Editor-in-Chief of stern.de as presenter, and host Thomas Braun, ANGA President.
For the first time, the second day of the fair will start off with a Technology Summit. Representatives from systems providers and network operators – Alcatel-Lucent, EWT, HanseNet, PrimaCom, Scientific-Atlanta, Teleste, WISI and Dutch cable operator @Home – will discuss the different transmission paths’ capacities and outlook.
