Ofcom has appointed Julian Eccles as its new director of communications. The former director of communications and corporate affairs at BSkyB will replace Matt Peacock who left the regulator earlier this month to become director of communications and marketing for international energy firm BG Group.
Eccles will lead a team of 24 people responsible for the regulator’s media relations, corporate and internal communications and design and publication activities. He will report to Ofcom chief executive Ed Richards.
Prior to his work at BSkyB, Eccles worked at British Interactive Broadcasting (later Open…) and was also a part time advisor at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
