CeBIT – HANOVER. At the CeBIT trade show Samsung showed two mobile phones with DVB-H reception for possible introduction on the Dutch market when KPN will launch their DVB-H service in the country. The Dutch telecom operator has the sole DVB-H license after acquiring the Digitenne DVB-T platform and is now preparing a DVB-H launch in the second half of the year. KPN has invited proposals from Dutch broadcasters to be part of the platform.
Samsung is pitching a number of models for inclusion in the operator’s consumer offer. One of the models on show is the Ultra Mobile TV F510, which is modified for DVB-H reception. Video can be viewed on the second screen, is able to stand alone thanks to the self-standing swivel screen. The prototype still has an extendable antenna, but it is thought that the final model will have a built-in antenna. Samsung already has DVB-H models available in Italy and T-DMB phones for the German market.
