Finland’s PlusTV is launching a new twin card package that will allow subscribers to the DTT package to extend their viewing to any TV in their possession.
In addition to the main smart card, which uses the Conax conditional access system, subscribers will be able to acquire three twin cards per household. According to research from Finnpanel, 13% of Finnish households have three television sets and 32% have two TVs.
The twin cards will be available free of charge until August 31, 2007 – when Finland’s digital switchover will complete – when the price per card will be set at 50% of the main subscription cost. Subscribers currently pay €8.90 per month for a two channel package, comprising MTV3 MAX and Subtv Juniori, and an initial €29.90 registration fee. Next month film channel Subtv Leffa will be added to the package and further channels will be added in the autumn.
80,000 subscribers have signed to the PlusTV package since its launch in November 2006. (JC)
