Virgin Media has agreed to non-exclusive rights to Buena Vista International Television’s Lost. The extension to an existing agreement with BVITV means that Series 1 and 2 of Lost, screened last year by Channel 4, will be available from the end of August. The third series will be available later this year following the completion of its screening on Sky One and DVD release.
Lost has recently returned to Sky One following a mid-season break in the United States. Whether Virgin Media subscribers will be able to see the programme through until the end of its run is now dependent on the settlement of the carriage fee row between Virgin and BSkyB.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, BSkyB CFO Jeremy Darroch confirmed that the DTH platform held “the same non-exclusive rights”, though it is not known how Sky intends to use them. Sky currently offers a PC on demand service, known as Sky Anytime, which will be extended to Sky+ DVR households next month.
