The History Channel UK is to launch a version of the Crime & Investigation Network in Sub-Saharan Africa on the Multichoice DTH satellite platform DStv. The channel will broadcast in English and will be managed by The History Channel UK as part of the joint venture between A&E Television Networks (AETN) and BSkyB.
The Crime & Investigation Network looks behind the scenes into crime labs, police archives and courtrooms. Series due to air in Sub-Sahara Africa are The Criminal Mind, Cold Case Files, Crime Central and Diagnosis Unknown. There are also plans for local content will with series including South African Strangler: Moses Sithole.
The venture already operates the Crime & Investigation Network in the UK and The History Channel in in Scandinavia, Sub-Sahara Africa and Greece. (JC)
