Set-top box manufacturer Amstrad has delayed the supply of HD boxes for BSkyB until the second half of 2007. Although the company has already begun delivering HD boxes, it is in the final stages of integrated the digital video recorder, which is a requirement of the Sky HD system.
Receiver volumes fell year on year, the result in part of the completion of Sky Italia’s migration to its new technology platform, though Amstrad was able to counter pressure on margins by reducing the manufacturing costs.
The company reported a fall in pre-tax profits of 16% to £10.5 million. (JC)
