According to local reports, the Serbian Telecommunications Agency RATEL is to ask the country’s leading cable operators SBB, PTT and Ikom to justify their price lists. Under the terms of the 2003 telecom law, it has the right to do so – especially as the companies already account for over 20% of the Serbian cable TV and Internet market – and make any adjustments it feels are necessary. There are currently around 58 cable operators in Serbia, with almost one in four (14) serving the capital, Belgrade. SBB, the country’s largest, has an estimated 500,000 subscribers and also operates a DTH platform named TotalTV. (CD)
