Sky Sports has signed an agreement for exclusive live coverage of the National League for the next two seasons. The rugby league season in England now runs between February and October and Sky Sports will cover the sport through the summer up to and including the National League Final on October 7.
The Super League season began for Sky on February 4 with HD coverage of the match between Huddersfield and St Helens. Up to 25 National Rugby League matches will be covered each season along with each of the five National League Playoff matches.
The rugby league magazine programme Boots N’ All will also return, this time as a Thursday night programme, as part of a three-hour rugby league evening.
Thursday is one of the few nights where little or no football is available to Sky Sports. The premium channels have subsequently tried snooker, darts, and recently Golf Night in a Saturday afternoon slot.
