Magyar Telekom has been given the green light by the competition authority in Hungary to acquire Mobilpress, one of the country’s leading mobile content producers and aggregators. Last December the incumbent Deutsche Telekom-backed telco signed an agreement to buy MobilPress outright and a 75% stake in the mobile content provider MFactory for a combined total of HUF1 billion (€3.93 million). It was also given the option of increasing its stake in MFactory to 100% from 2009. MobilPress and MFactory had combined revenues of HUF1.8 billion and an EBITDA of HUF120 million in 2006. Magyar Telekom is structured into groups providing wireline and broadband services (T-Com), mobile communications (T-Mobile) and business solutions (T-Systems). It entered the TV market with the launch of an IPTV service last November. (CD)
