Flemish DTH operator claims 30,000 households connected since their official launch in June, 2006. “These strong results show there is a need for an independent Flemish provider for digital television, ” said Kurt Pauwels, general manager of TV Vlaanderen, “This means we have reached already our goal for the first twelve months. We are confident to stick to our target of 100,000 homes in three years’ time.”
The operator now claims 10% of the Flemish digital television market, which is divided between cable (In-Di and Telenet) and DSL (Belgacom TV). Part of the reason for the success is the straight forward offer of just a single bouquet for a flat fee of 8.95 euro a month. However, for the near future an extended tier is planned with around ten additional channels. Also, Pauwels is offering a solution for multi TV-set homes at two euro a month for each additional set. He also expects to be able to offer an HD bouquet before the end of this year.
